Help & How-To

Clear, step-by-step guidance for calculations, projects, estimates, customers, and your account.

Getting started

Can I use TerraCalc without an account?

Yes. The calculator is complete and free to use without an account—it is not a trial. An account is optional and enables private cloud projects, estimates, customers, business details, and cross-device access.

How do I create an account or sign in?

  1. Select Account.
  2. Choose Create account or Sign in.
  3. Enter your email and select Send verification code.
  4. Enter the code from the latest TerraCalc email, then select Verify and sign in.

No password is required.

What is included with a free account?

A free account supports up to three active or archived cloud projects. Projects in trash do not count toward that capacity. Use an existing project or move one to trash before creating another.

Projects & estimates

What is the difference between a project, calculation, and estimate?

A calculation records the material quantity produced by a calculator. A project organizes related work. An estimate is the editable commercial document inside a project, made from one or more calculation line items.

How do I create an estimate from a calculation?

  1. Complete a material calculation.
  2. Select Add to estimate.
  3. Choose Create a new project and enter a project name, or choose an existing project.
  4. Choose Create a new estimate, complete the first line item, and select Create estimate.

You must be signed in.

How do I add calculations to an existing estimate?

Complete the next calculation and select Add to estimate. Choose the existing project and estimate, review the line item, then save. Repeat this process to add multiple calculations while preserving each source calculation for traceability.

What can I edit on an estimate?

Open Account, choose Estimates, and select the estimate. You can edit quantities, unit prices, markup or discount, tax treatment, customer, reference, and other document details. Editing the commercial line item does not change its source calculation.

How do Draft, Final, and Print / Save as PDF work?

Draft means the estimate remains in preparation. Use Final when it is ready for its intended recipient. Select Print / Save as PDF, then choose your device’s Print to PDF or Save as PDF destination. Review the preview before saving or printing.

Customers & business

How do I add company information?

Open Account, choose Business profile, enter only the company and contact details you want available for estimates, then select Save business profile. You can also set default currency and tax.

How do I add or manage customers?

Open Account and choose Customers. Select Add customer to create a record. Existing records can be edited or moved to trash. Use View trash to restore a customer or select Delete permanently.

Managing saved work

How do I manage saved projects?

Select Projects to reopen or duplicate local work. Signed-in cloud projects can also be renamed, archived, moved to trash, restored, or deleted permanently. Permanent deletion cannot be undone.

What is the difference between local and cloud work?

Local estimates stay on the current device. Private cloud projects require an account and support cross-device access. TerraCalc uploads existing local estimates only when you explicitly choose Import local estimates from the Projects panel.

What should I do if a project changed before my update?

This revision-conflict message prevents one device from silently overwriting newer work. Refresh or reopen the project, review the latest version, then repeat your change.

Account & privacy

Why do I see “Updated Privacy Notice”?

TerraCalc asks signed-in users to acknowledge material privacy updates. Open the notice, check the acknowledgment, and select Save acknowledgment. Refresh if the saved notice remains visible.

How do I export data, delete my account, or sign out?

Open Account, choose the Account tab, then select Export my data, Delete account, or Sign out. Read confirmation messages carefully—account deletion is destructive.

Troubleshooting

The verification email is missing. What should I do?

Check spam and filtered folders, confirm the email address, wait at least 60 seconds, and request one new code. Use only the latest TerraCalc message. If delivery remains unavailable, try again later rather than repeatedly requesting codes.

Why is my verification code invalid or expired?

Enter the 6–10 digit code from the latest TerraCalc email. Older codes expire when a newer one is requested. If needed, select Use a different email, restart sign-in, and enter the newest code promptly.

Why did iOS sign me into Safari but not the Home Screen app?

Safari and an installed Home Screen web app can keep separate sessions. Return to the Home Screen app and start sign-in there using the email-code flow. Enter the newest code inside the Home Screen app instead of relying on the Safari link session.

Why can’t I add a calculation to an estimate?

Confirm that you are signed in, the calculation has a valid quantity, and your account has an available project or an existing project you can use. Reopen Account or Projects, refresh the saved work, and try Add to estimate again.
